Today, on 1st February, Ireland celebrates St. Brigid’s Day, or in Irish Lá Fhéile Bríde. Also known as Imbolc, the celebrations mark the beginning of spring and is marked by various traditions and festivities. The Irish Times published a list of the many celebrations happening across Ireland for St. Brigid’s Day, and the National Museum of Ireland shared some of the traditions that occur during this time. This year, St. Brigid’s Day has a more global reach, with 62 events taking place in honour of the woman of the hour.

Ahead of the upcoming Saints Day Caitríona Nic Philibín and Máirtín Mac Con Iomaire from TU Dublin wrote an interesting piece about the foods associated with St.Brigid. As the patron saint of brewing, we suggest you grab your favourite Irish beer and raise a glass to this trailblazing woman.

French newspaper Le Parisien reported that over €1.5 million worth of wine has gone missing from the restaurant that inspired the film Ratatouille. Paris’ Tour d’Argent. The discovery was made when the restaurant reopened following a renovation in 2022 and an inventory of the cellar was carried out. An official report was made to the police last week.
