You don’t have to have the writing skills of Oscar Wilde, we’re accepting pitches because we want our members and network to have a platform to share their expertise and passion. Eat Spain Drink Spain (formerly Spanish Wine Week) returns this October to Ireland. This vibrant celebration of Spanish gastronomy runs from October 1st to 15th, immerse yourself in the rich flavours and traditions of Spain through a series of exciting events including wine tastings, gastronomic tours and dinners, engaging quizzes, and nationwide promotions. It’s free to get involved and a fantastic way to increase sales and awareness of your Spanish offerings.

A brand-new food and wine course is now available in Ireland.  The curriculum was developed by wine and food educator Trish Rogers who devised it while living in the United States. In association with FF&W Co. Atlanta US, the ‘Diploma in Food & Wine Synergy’ course will be offered in Ireland only twice this year. This Diploma course will take place in Ireland in 2024 and will be held over four weeks including an examination. Full course information and sign-up can be found here.

On 14th September Vine Lab Wine Minnestota will offer an in-person WSET Wine level 1 course. Taking place from 8:30am-3:30pm, including the exam, the course is ideal for anyone who wants an introduction to wine and is open to both amateurs and professionals.

Electric Picnic is back this weekend! Ireland’s popular festival returns, along with the Theatre of Food. In conversation with María Amezola Downes, Owner of Bodegas Amezola de la Mora in Rioja, Spain.

Dating back to 1816, Domingo Salustiano Manso de Zúñiga y Areyzaga, 8th Count of Hervías and Viscount of Negueruela, ordered the construction of a winery in Torremontalbo, a town that had been in his family’s hands since the 13th century.

In 1987, the new winery, a fusion of the heritage and the efforts of the Amézola brothers, was founded under the name of Bodegas Amézola de la Mora, SA Cristina Downes, the widow of Iñigo Amézola, took on the great challenge of leading the winery. María is now the 5th generation family member working at the winery.

On Thursday 29th August Lynda Coogan from A Class of Wine will host a New World Wine tasting in Charlestown, Dublin from 7 pm – 9pm. Guests will enjoy 6 international wines plus nibbles made with the Thermomix. Early bird tickets are €25.

Boann Distillery are hosting a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Tasting on Thursday, August 29th. Guests will enjoy a refreshing Silks Gin and tonic on arrival, followed by a guided tour of the distillery before taking part in a guided tasting of Boann Single Pot Still ‘New Born’ New Make Spirit and Boann Single Pot Still Irish Whiskeys; Marsala, Madeira and P.X.

Barolo & Friends Consumer Tasting with Sandro Minella takes place on 2nd September. The Consumer Masterclass will be held at Hyatt Centric from 18:00 to 19:00 and will be followed by a walk-around tasting of all the producer’s wines until 20:00. Tickets are now on sale priced €40.00 per person – as places are limited early booking is advised.

Also on 2nd September, there will be a Chilean Wine & Pisco Tasting at Bewley’s Grafton Street. Guests will enjoy 10 Chilean wines and enjoy traditional Chilean beef empanadas made by Tabu Tapas along with some Pisco.
