Vinspire Academy Partners with Wine Spirit Women to Launch Annual Spirits Scholarship for Aspiring Drinks Professionals

In a collaboration set to inspire the next generation of female spirits professionals, Vinspire Academy has joined forces with Wine Spirit Women to launch a new annual scholarship aimed at empowering women across Ireland’s drinks industry.

The Vinspire Academy x Wine Spirit Women Spirits Scholarship will offer one member of the Wine Spirit Women network a fully funded WSET Level 1 in Spirits course each year, an internationally recognised qualification designed to build confidence, boost careers, and deepen professional knowledge in the dynamic world of spirits.

At the heart of this partnership lies a shared belief: that education is not just about qualifications, but about creating pathways, building networks, and nurturing talent in an industry still working towards inclusivity and balance.

“Vinspire Academy is committed to promoting education and diversity within the spirits and wine industry,” said Philip Dunne, founder of Vinspire Academy. “In support of this, we are delighted to now offer Wine Spirit Women a WSET Level 1 in Spirits Wine Scholarship on an annual basis. This initiative aims to provide aspiring female professionals in our wine industry here in Ireland with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, and advance their careers with this incredible qualification.”

Founded by sommelier Philip Dunne, Vinspire Academy has become one of Ireland’s leading drinks education centres, championing high-quality, approachable wine and spirits education for everyone from enthusiasts to professionals. The academy is renowned for its engaging teaching style and commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive learning space.

Wine Spirit Women, meanwhile, is a growing community of women working across the drinks industry, set up by Lynne Coyle MW and Justine McGovern, offering mentorship, education, and a thriving support network. Through events, bursaries, and collaborative projects, the group continues to promote equity and representation across all aspects of the drinks world.

This new scholarship is more than a course – it’s an invitation. An invitation to Wine Spirit Women members who are curious, passionate, and ready to take their place in the world of spirits. Whether you’re behind the bar, on the floor, in a vineyard, or dreaming of distillation, this is a chance to learn, grow, and connect.

Vinspire Academy offers wine and spirits courses open to both professionals and consumers. To find out about upcoming courses, visit vinspireacademy.com.
