WSW June Newsletter

Can you believe June is almost over already? This year feels like it’s flying in and you’re probablywondering why your June newsletter is so late right?Well, we’ve been offgallivanting around the place, including a media trip to Catalonia with Boutique Wines which we’ll be sharing with you soon.

But finally, it’s summer at last – the longest day has come and gone, so if you’re not drinking rosé or Pet Nat by now, you’re just not a fan!

Most stores have a summer promotion on rosé wine at the moment – there are great deals to be had all summer in most supermarkets and independents. We recently recommended Laurent Miquel’s Solas Rosé as a Wine Wednesday special, available from Dunnes Stores (€11.50) and O’Brien’s have a 25% summer promotion on all rosé wines, including our own Lynne Coyle’s “Rós” Spanish rosé.

You’ll mostly find Pet Nat (Pétillant Naturel) wines in specialist independents, starting at around €20. These are naturally sparkling (“pétillant” in French) wines, which are closed with a crown cap before the end of fermentation, creating a natural sparkle and you’ll often find a little cloudiness or sediment, as there’s no disgorgement. Usually low in alcohol at 10.5-11%, they are a refreshing summer choice.

Enjoy the sunshine!
