WSW set Bewley’s Ablaze with Catena Play & Wine Tasting

On Thursday 13th October we were delighted to join our members together for a night of storytelling and socialising with Cassidy Wines to host a unique event for our group. On the night we were delighted to have Adriana Catena, 4th generation family member at Catena, and export manager Pedro in attendance for the performance of “As Wine Flows By”.

Guests enjoyed wines from Argentina’s Catena winery before enjoying a one-woman show performed by the fabulous Tina, who truly brought the story of Catena and its history with the Malbec grape to life. While sipping Chardonnay and three blends of Malbec, we nibbled on delicious Argentinian empanadas from Bakeology Treats

What was already a dramatic night ended with an evacuation due to a chimney fire, and although we’re a pretty hot gang WSW claims no responsibility for this fire, and you will not be seeing our faces on Crime Watch. Thankfully everyone was completely fine, and Bewley’s is still standing – thank you to all our guests who were so understanding, and thanks to the Garda who took our group photo while the fire brigades sailed up Grafton Street – only in Ireland would the Gardí offer to take your photo while a building is burning.

To put the icing on the cake, we raised over €400 for Women’s Aid, which works to stop domestic violence in Ireland and offers a 24-hour National Freephone Helpline and a number of Dublin-based face-to-face services. We want to thank everyone who attended and helped us donate these funds to an extremely worthy cause.

Last but by no means least, we want to say a huge thank you to Lorna and Amanda from Cassidy Wines who organised and funded the event allowing us to raise money for Women’s Aid. Two shining examples of hardworking women working in the drinks industry in Ireland, who really know how to host an event to remember!

Now that you’ve tasted the wine we have no doubt you’ll want to pick up a few bottles of Catena, so we’ve linked to a few stockists below.
